Church Point—A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Chad Cormier, 39, of Crowley will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point. Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery #2, Church Point. Visitation will begin on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point, and will continue all night until Tuesday at 1:30 P.M. A rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Cormier passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:40 P.M. in his Crowley residence. A native and longtime resident of Church Point, Mr. Cormier had lived in Crowley for the past seven years. He attended Church Point High School, and was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a very talented musician who could play just about any instrument, but he was an especially accomplished fiddle player. Mr. Cormier kept his Cajun heritage alive by playing French Cajun music. Survivors include his wife, Haas Grimmer Cormier of Crowley; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cormier of Mire; son, Nicholas Jude Cormier of Mire; step-daughters, Kara Nicole Neyra and husband, Jason of Duson, Hana Katheryn Suire of Crowley, Kaylan Danae Chow and husband, Marlon of Camp Pendleton, CA, and Kristan Paige Ordogne and husband, Chase of Crowley; step-son, Eric Tyler Suire of Crowley; parents, Glenda and Nolan Cormier of Church Point; sister, Crystal Lea Cormier of Church Point; brother, David Mitchell Cormier of Gretna; step-grandchildren, Mason Neyra, Kyra Neyra, William Ordogne, Everitt Suire, and Vincent Chow; aunt, Tina Menard of Church Point; niece, Cassie Hundley of Lake Charles; and a host of friends and other relatives. Preceding Mr. Cormier in death were his maternal grandparents, Preston and Eurella Matte; paternal grandparents, Clevert and Marie Cormier; uncle, Jude Matte; and aunt, Christine Lavergne. Serving as pallbearers are David Mitchell Cormier, Nicholas Jude Cormier, Mitchell Jude Cormier, Eric Tyler Suire, Calvin Menard, Barry Cormier, Jamie Bearb, and Chris Breaux.
