Shirley Dean Linzay Ainsworth, 75, of Rocky Branch Louisiana passed away on July 15, 2019.  Born in Collinston, Louisiana on November 22, 1943, Shirley began her career at the NewStar and then transitioned to a long-term career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where so many students will remember her as Ms A in the Pow-Wow.

She is preceded in death by parents, Thomas James and Lula Mae Linzay, and siblings Tommy Mae Linzay, Audrey Faye Talley and David Linzay.  She is survived by JC Ainsworth, her husband of 53 years, children Chris Ainsworth of Charlottesville, VA and Terri Paine of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren Kacie Smith, Josh Ainsworth, Jordan Ainsworth, Jacob Ainsworth, Jami Ainsworth and Patrick Stephens; four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley loved anything involving her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She greatly enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and friends at Lake Bruin.  A faithful member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, she could often be found playing the piano or organ or singing in the choir. She would help anyone, wanted to be a burden to no one and was always willing to offer advice prefaced with her famous quote “now I’m not trying to tend to your business but…”

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 20th at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, 109 Roan Rd, Farmerville, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
