John Lucien Meche

MIRE – Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, for John Lucien Meche, 89, who died Sunday, Aug. 30, at Lady of the Oak Nursing Home in Lafayette.
Interment will be in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Mire.
Rev. Michael Arnaud, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his two daughters, Marlene Meche Hanks and spouse Kurt and Roxanne Meche Alleman, both of Scott; four grandchildren, Kelly Campbell, Joshua Private, Mikie Hanks and Matthew Meche, two great-grandchildren, Lucien Hanks and Leon Privat; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Meche, Bulsey Mire and spouse Donald and Sable Meche; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loma Gary Meche; one son, Cleter J. Meche; one grandson, Jamie Hanks; father, Lucien Meche; mother, Ella LeBlanc Meche; two sisters, Virginia M. Thibodeaux and Evelle M. Martin; and seven brothers, Cyprien Meche, Cleter Meche, Ivy Meche, Freddie Meche, Delton Meche, Davie Meche and Leo Meche.
The family requests visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
