A Mass of Christian Burial for Norma Jean Leger Bonin, 86, of Morse, will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church in Gueydan on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. with Father Corey Campeaux officiating.
Burial will follow in Gueydan Cemetery.
Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers will be Tyson Mouton, Daniel Petry, Joshua Brown, Donnie Clark, Mark Joseph Richard, and Jimmy Bellard.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mark “Big Boy” Brown Jr.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Friday, Oct. 23, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.
Norma was born in Morse on Aug. 24, 1934, to Felix J. Leger and Agnes Breaux Leger. She was called to her Heavenly Father on Oct. 21, 2020.
Norma was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family. In her spare time she loved to bake, sew, and quilt. Norma was known as the “Pie Lady” in Morse.
She was very active in her church and was a member of the Morse Rosary Group and the Ladies Altar Society. Her greatest joy in life was the time she was able to spend with all of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Norma was a kind and loving person; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Norma leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons, Ray Richard (Lona) of Morse, and Mark J. Richard of Morse; her three daughters, Penny Brown of Lake Charles, Missy Bellard (Jimmy) of Lake Charles, and Jenny Petry (Clayton) of Gueydan; her two sisters, Thelma Clark of Lyons Point, and Betty June Myers of Morse; her 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Norma now is rejoicing in heaven with those who preceded her in death, her parents, Felix and Agnes Leger; her beloved husband, Donnie Bonin; her brothers, Lovelace “Bada” Leger, and Norris “Bee” Leger; her great-grandson, Kayn Bourque.
