Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Delores Henry Melancon, 78, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at Encore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Rev. Randy Trahan, pastor of Northside Assembly of God Church, will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Mahlon Melancon of Crowley; four daughters, Deborah Ramos and husband Nicholas of San Diego, California, Roxanne Abshire and husband Thomas of Kaplan, Stephanie Jones and husband Richard of Rayne, and Julie Melancon of South Pasadena, California; one brother, Rodney Henry Jr. and wife Sandra of Iota; 18 grandchildren, Brandon Garcia, Stacy (Thomas) Heger, Brooke Garcia, Kaleb Clement, Kris (Morgan) Clement, Allyson Clement, Katelyn Jones, Rebecca Fantroy, Meghan Jones, Nickolas Jones, Arielle Sanchez, Arianna Sanchez, Joseph Calzada, Shelly (Justin Payne) Hoffpauir, Penny Mayeux, Nicholas Abshire, Amber Harrington and Ashley Harrington; and 13 great-grandchildren, Rosie Garcia, Isaac Garcia, Zooey Garcia, Charlotte Heger, Kasen Abshire, Jaden Abshire, Bryan Mayeux, Angel Mayeux, Onyx Mayeux, Nicole Harrington, Wyatt Harrington, Zoe’ Sonnier and Piper Harrington.
Mrs. Melancon is preceded in death by her parents, Rodney Henry Sr. and wife Paulette; and her mother, Elvinia Sonnier Myers and husband Wilbert; her twin brother, Lercy Henry; and her sisters-in-law, Irene and Patricia Henry.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Garcia, Nickolas Jones, Anthony Stansbury, Thomas Heger, Grady Hoffpauir and Kaleb Clement.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Jones, Nicholas Ramos, Thomas Abshire, Justin Payne, Isaac Garcia and Joseph Calzada.
